A Ten Apple Farm goat hike is a two hour recreational and educational goat experience. You'll meet your hosts (and our herd of Alpine dairy goats), and hear about their 16 years of experience with goats and living on a small family farm. Once we've met the goats and the many other animals residents of the farm, we’ll set off on a hike through the Ten Apple Farm woods with the goats and Philip our sheep! The hike consists of an approximately one and a half mile loop trail through our woods on lightly groomed trails. Along the way we’ll talk about goats as pack animals, what they eat, and you’ll learn a thing or two about raising and caring for goats. We will meet on the docks of East Boston where we will tear into and slurp dozens of local oysters, harvested by our oyster farmer friends, while looking over the harbor and skyline. You will learn how to properly shuck an oyster and will go home with a shucking knife of your own. The memories will be in the details. We will set up in "flash-mob" "pop-up" style along the water. I can take up to 2 people per class and we will make ONE wood bowl together. I will start by showing a couple of videos of what we will be doing, followed by safety instructions before we dive in. No prior experience is required. I provide active hands-on instruction, demonstrations and enthusiastic encouragement. You will make all the creative decisions of wood type, bowl shape and size etc. I offer a selection of woods to choose from including locally harvested hardwoods purchased from me directly on the day of the class. NOTE! I can schedule this event any time or day - just let me know what day or time you want. Other things to note: Plan on getting covered in shavings! Wear work clothes and roll up long sleeves, remove watches and bracelets and long hair must be tied back. I will provide all safety equipment and advice. A materials fee of $12 to $30 covers the wood blank.

Each student will learn how to use the slab roller, make clay coils and the basics of hand building. A wheel for throwing is also available as well as glazes and Kiln. You make take home what you create with the amount of clay allotted.

In this experience you’ll make your own mosaic at the SoWa Mosaics studio in the heart of Boston’s Art + Design district! SoWa Mosaics is a bright and welcoming space featuring mosaics made with homemade tiles of all shapes and sizes. Each student chooses a square board or picture frame as their base. We will spend a few minutes talking about mosaics and our unique process then you’ll get started glueing tiles and creating your own unique mosaic selecting from an abundance of our handmade colorful tiles. During the workshop we’ll be walking around to help guide and encourage your work. For smaller groups we like to sit down and create one with you too! At the end of the workshop, your mosaic will be glued and safe to take home but needs a day to get sturdy and dry completely before you can grout it. Each student goes home with a goodie bag containing grout, gloves and instructions on how to put the finishing touches on the artwork. After or before the workshop we encourage you to walk around and visit the 100+ other artists, galleries and shops here. Sundays are the most active with several other studios open and a vintage market in the basement. On Sundays in May thru October we have food trucks and outdoor markets too! This class starts with hands and brain warm-up exercises, so the blood circulates efficiently and make your hands and brain move well. I will provide origami papers (varies by its price at that time). I will start folding with a very easy one for beginners and gradually move up to a little more challenging things with consent with students but at the end, unless students want to do something different, we will be folding very memorable piece to take back home as a souvenir. We are going to take it easy and enjoy folding with a big smile on your face! Other things to note; Origami papers are provided for each student. I'll ask about your background with origami and your skill level in the welcome message prior to the class. I will also prepare instructional diagram for each model that I plan. At the Quick Letterpress Printing Workshop, we will examine the history and technology that made letterpress printing possible, we will typeset lead type into monogrammed notecards, and we will use an antique Vandercook proofing press to print these notecards onto a range of carstock and fine art papers. Attendees will take home a personalized A2 notecard that they typeset and printed themselves. Great for teams, great for families and great for groups! I've had several bridal showers, company team-building workshops and family outings at the press, and everyone has a great time. Print your family motto, short quote, pithy joke or your company vision statement! Other things to note This is a hands-on experience, and letterpress printing is a technical trade that takes some physical involvement. Your hand-made item will, indeed, be hand-made by you!

Join Captain Joe for a relaxing private boat cruise over to our oyster farm where you will shuck and slurp oysters straight out of the water, and learn about our Shellfish Reef Restoration project. Feel free to bring along snacks and your favorite drink. I’ll make sure we have plenty of oysters and all the fixings for our favorite rum cocktail! This trip lasts 1.5-2 hours and is available for up to 6 people . Kids of all ages are welcome to come but I find that children ages 9+ get the most enjoyment out of this type of trip. Lighthouse Bikes offers bicycle tours, close to a paved trail that connects the lighthouses of South Portland. Join us for a historic tour by bike to learn more about the rich history of this area while enjoying a leisurely ride! All bikes are classic Worksman cruisers with comfortable seats, handmade baskets perfect for picnicking and pedal brakes. Our tours cover topics from shipbuilding in Maine, to the local ecology, the history of the lighthouses and insider tips for folks new to the area. The ride is mostly flat and covers five miles.

(2-hrs Birding Experience) We will visit New Hampshire's Mt. Washington Valley in search of a wide variety of birds breeding, migrating, or overwintering in the area. We will visit the low-elevation northern hardwoods forest in search of the great number of wood warblers, vireos, and more. Take a rest from the stress of the modern world and get ready to fall in love with group of energetic fun seeking Corgis as they take you on a unique journey to a special place where you find hidden dwellings and discover the secret treasure chests. BlissWood Forest is located in Coastal Maine one hour south of Acadia National Park. You will arrive at Corgi Bliss, in the town of Penobscot, on the edge of the forest. There you will meet your hosts, the Corgis along with Jennifer or Katie. Drinks will be offered, as well as a discussion about safety while walking with the corgis . We will set off on our journey through the fields, and into BlissWood Forest. The easy half-mile hike is well maintained and goes at a leisurely pace. The loose Corgis will be scurrying about ahead as they sniff the ground and try to pick up the scent of pixie dust. Help the Corgis find the hidden treasure chests and secret swellings along the path. We pause a lot for selfies, kisses and cuddles from the animals. Then we loop down the trail and return to Corgi Bliss, where drinks and snacks are to be had before saying our goodbyes. We will be outdoors in the fresh air and forest, wear layered clothing and shoes that protect your feet from the elements. Enjoy the earthy smells and forest sounds, and the corgis. For safety, only our dogs can join us on this hike. Children under two years are FREE!

Have you ever wondered what living on a yacht in Boston Harbor overlooking iconic sites like TD Garden and the U.S.S. Constitution would be like? Bring your dog and join me and Teddy, the golden doodle for a glimpse of this lifestyle. If you don't have a dog, Teddy will be your pet for the day. I'll greet you at the gate of Constitution Marina and walk the floating docks as I share stories of this lifestyle. We'll spend a little time on Salty Plum, on B Dock, so you can see how easy and affordable an entry-level life on the water can be. Then we will continue to E Dock to board Sugar Plum, my 40 ft. yacht. We'll turn on the music and have cocktails (BYOB) and appetizers. Sit in the galley area sipping a drink and watch me cook, or head out to the bow and get plenty of pictures of yourself on a private yacht in the heart of Boston. Finally, we will get underway for a harbor cruise. This activity is available for groups of up to six people. Larger groups may inquire about customizable experiences.

We can start your ride anytime, just ask prior to booking so I can adjust the timing on our booking. My experience begins at the Sewall Woods recreational area, where guests are provided hard tail mountain bikes, helmets and water. I’ll explain how your bikes work and give tips along the way for those newer to trail riding. At Sewall woods we have about 4 miles of single track, mountain biking trail, through a quiet heavily wooded area. Once we’ve completed Sewall we will continue to the Fernald Station singletrack off the Cotton Valley railtrail. Here the trail rambles along the Wiley Brook for a mile or so, before winding back into the woods, for a few more miles of twisty singletrack. After we’ve completed our ride, I’m glad suggest places to eat of other fun things to do in the area. My experience is well suited for riders of all ages. You should be proficient on a bike and in good physical condition. We’ll ride at a pace that’s comfortable for everyone, but keep in mind, mountain biking is a demanding sport.
